It seems like the female MC war isn’t one-sided anymore and Nicki might have some competition. I mean she did ask “Is it my fault that all you bitches gone?” and is it, obviously not. But Lil Kim seems to want someone to hold her earrings and fight back. She recently talked to MTV News about the feud between the two MCs in which she stated:
This is the thing: It’s just, it’s really, like, at the end of the day, I do what I have to do, and I’m gonna keep doing what I have to do. I’m gonna do me. They’re the ones that brought this about. It could have been that simple. But what they did was underestimate me. They thought I was gonna sit back and let them do what they were doing. I’m gonna let everybody know: I’m on my Hollywood sophisticated, but I’ll bring it back if I have to. And that’s in life. I can’t help it. I’m G’d up from my feet up. If I have to handle my business, I’mma handle my business. And I have to fight for my fans.
So I realize that I’m not all that boss, but I’m fairly certain the only words I understood in that were “I’m G’d up from my feet up. If I have to handle my business, I’mma handle my business.” And I see it as threat, so Nick, watch your back. I’m all for Team Minaj but ain’t no denying that Lil Kim knows how to fuck a bitch up - she has been to prison after all. But Lil Kim knows she’s got a lot of work ahead of her, even though she looks about 14 times less trashy than she once did - for example, wearing a one-shoulder dress and a pasty over her left breast to the MTV Video Music Awards. With Minaj’s Universal Records behind her, it’s definitely an uphill battle especially with her fanbase as large as it is. But Lil Kim definitely takes it to stride and is definitely ready to take it into battle:
What kind of message would that send to my fans if I just sit back and watched? Let this girl do what she’s doing. My fans were more fumed than I was. They were looking like, ‘Do you see this? Do you hear this?’ By the end of the day, I understand what they were feeling. I owe my fans a whole lot.
So what exactly does all of this mean? I’m not really sure if MTV would do an interview with an artist who’s taken such criticism without having her back it up just because MTV loves the drama that these kind of things bring. They were the network to devote almost 4 straight episodes of Jersey Shore to the Sammi & Ronnie fight and let the rest of us who watch it for the hilarity of Snooki and the likes of them sitting pissed at home. So, personally, I think it means Lil Kim’s on her way back and if MTV has anything to do with it, this MC battle might be bigger than Eminem-Ja Rule.
