james franco starts social networking.

As though James Franco could not have a more impressive resume these days, he’s joined Facebook and Twitter! Ever since his big break as best friend turned villain Harry Osborn in the Sam Raimi directed Spider-Man trilogy, Franco has really tuckered down and done some serious work. He’s been in various romantic comedies such as Tristan & Isolde and Nights in Rodanthe, was one of the stars of 2008’s hilarious Pineapple Express and has done some serious work for Milk, Eat Pray Love and has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor for portraying Aron Ralston in 127 Hours. That’s not including his appearances on 30 Rock and General Hospital as well as his cameos in Knocked Up and The Holiday. He’s also playing major rolls in 2011 in the comedy Your Highness and a Planet of the Apes remake called Rise of the Apes. But that’s not all, while filming for 127 Hours, Franco was attending classes at UCLA majoring in English while concentrating in creative writing. Graduating in 2 years, with a GPA of over 3.5, Franco moved on to graduate school where he pursued his degree in Columbia’s writing program while simultaneously being enrolled at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts for filmmaking and Brooklyn College’s fiction writing program. Since Columbia, he has moved on to pursue his Ph.D at Yale in English. With all this going on, it’s hard to believe one has time for any social networking. But it also leads one to believe what he has up his sleeve in the future. With so much schooling in English, fictional writing and filmmaking we have to wonder whether James Franco might be looking to become a serious filmmaker and work from behind the camera. I can’t blame him, a lot of actors do it, most usually just put their name on the project and don’t seem to do much. So I commend him for doing it the right way.
