Unless you lived under a rock in the past few months, you know that American Idol is pretty much an entirely new show with new judges (Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, yet Randy Jackson remains) and that Paula Abdul left on fairly sour terms. Yet she’s moving on to a show that’ll compete with So You Think You Can Dance. The new CBS reality show, called Live To Dance, features Abdul as a judge alongside Michael Jackson’s former choreographer, Travis Payne and former Pussycat Doll, Kimberly Wyatt. It debuted on January 4th with 10.2 million viewers making it the most watched show of the night. And I have no idea why. People can’t like Paula Abdul that much that they flock to Live To Dance yet the FOX network’s So You Think You Can Dance also debuted with more than 10 million viewers but has had ratings drop tremendously as it is about to enter its 8th season. In all honesty, I would much rather watch MTV’s hit dance competition show, America’s Best Dance Crew before I’d watch Paula. And I used to love Paula on American Idol. I just think it’s time for her to stop with the whole competition-based reality TV shows. She can do better. Heck, I’d rather see her make a musical comeback than work on reality TV. She’s four-years younger than Madonna who’s still doing musical and dance work. If Madonna can do it, so can Paula.
