the anatomy of pop culture

2010 was quite the year for recording artist and Duke University graduate Mike Posner. In April, he came from near obscurity and released his first single called “Cooler Than Me” - which I find to be terribly annoying - but it still managed to peak at #6 on the US Billboard Charts, Coming from near obscurity, he releases a single called “Cooler Than Me” - which I find to be super annoying - but it still managed to peak at #6 on the US Billboard charts. Then in August, his album 31 Minutes to Takeoff debuted peaking at #8 on the US Billboard charts and received a B+ rating from Entertainment Weekly. Then, one month later, in September, his second single “Please Don’t Go” officially debuted peaking at number #16 on the Billboard charts. So sure, he had a successful 2010, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s talented in today’s music industry with high-end technologies and auto-tuning. But then celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton found this incredible video of Posner performing an acoustic version of “Please Don’t Go,” which more than shows his credentials of deserving to be big in the music business. I would even compare his ability to transfer pop songs into amazing acoustic performances to the likes of Lady GaGa - that’s how impressed I am with this video.
