São Paolo, Brazil is not only the largest city in Brazil and South America, it’s also the largest city in the southern hemisphere, which means it’s bigger than Sydney, Australia and Jakarta, Indonesia. It’s also the seventh most populous metropolitan area in the world, which makes for some pretty close quarters which is never good when a fire breaks out in one of the poorest areas in the city. In the city’s Real Parque neighborhood a fire raged uncontrollably for more than 3 hours before fire officials and firemen were able to control the fire. Although no one has died due to the flames, officials have reported at least 10 people have been injured and more than 300 homes have been destroyed by the blaze. No cause has been linked to the fire as of this time.
