miners trapped until christmas?

Almost three weeks have passed since 33 Chilean copper and gold miners were trapped 2300-feet below the surface after a cave-in on August 5th. Mining officials have stated that while it could take up to four months to rescue the miners, they are stating the the miners’ health is their utmost priority. Thus far, microphones and cameras have been dropped into the mining cavity to investigate the miners. The miners responded sending a up a note written in Spanish stating that they are fine in the shelter and that there are 33 of them. Rescuers and health officials have also begun to send water down to the trapped water as the health officials are examining feedback caught by the camers and microphones to determine if the miners are in fact healthy enough for liquid nutrients. Andres Sougarret, who is in charge of the rescue efforts, explained that it will take up to four months to rescue the trapped miners due to the fact that the the strength of the entire mine has been compromised due to the collapse in addition to the depth of the miners.
